This matters because one of the most common “my call won’t go out” issues is simply having the wrong calling option selected.
Your outbound call does not start when you click the green call button.
You want to start a call on one device and then continue it on another device.
You want all your devices to ring so you can pick up wherever you are.
RingFree Communicator installed and signed in
Your extension registered and available (Deskphone plugged in if you plan to use Deskphone)
If you want to use your own mobile number: add it under Office and Mobile phones
In RingFree Communicator, look at the bottom-right area of the dial pad. You will see a label such as DESKPHONE.
In the dial pad screen, click DESKPHONE.
A dropdown appears with options like:
Softphone
Deskphone (default)
Mobile App
Office and Mobile phones…
Pick the option that matches how you want to place the call:
Softphone: call through your computer audio (headset or speakers)
Deskphone: dial from your physical desk phone
Mobile App: place calls through the RingFree mobile app (you must be signed in there)
Select Softphone.
Dial the number (type it or paste it).
Click the green call button.
Select Deskphone (default).
Enter the number in RingFree Communicator.
Click the green call button.
Your physical desk phone places the call (you talk using the desk phone).
Select Mobile App from the dropdown.
If a confirmation message appears, choose Yes to continue.
Place the call as usual.
If you want your personal mobile number to ring as part of your RingFree setup, add it under Office and Mobile phones….
Click DESKPHONE (bottom-right of the dial pad).
Select Office and Mobile phones…
A “Phones” window opens with tabs like Office and Mobile.
Go to the Mobile tab.
Add your mobile number and a label (example: “Personal Mobile”).
Click OK to save.
When you are already on a call, you can make your devices ring and then answer the call on the device you want.
Start or answer a call in RingFree Communicator.
In the active call screen, look for the device menu near the bottom (it may show something like OTHER DEVICE).
Click the device menu and choose Ring All My Devices.
Your available devices start ringing (Softphone, Deskphone, and Mobile App if signed in).
Answer the ringing call on the device you want to use.
Example: Answer on Softphone to continue on your computer.
Example: Answer on Deskphone to continue on the physical phone.
Example: Answer on Mobile App to continue on your mobile.
This is the simplest way to move a call between your own devices.
If you are using Softphone, audio settings matter.
On the dial pad screen, select the headset icon (or audio icon near the top of the dial pad).
Choose:
Select microphone
Select speaker
Select ringing device
To open more settings, choose Preferences.
In Preferences:
Open the Audio section.
Pick the correct Microphone, Speaker, and Ringing device.
Use the Test buttons if available.
Click OK.
Blocking spam callers is different from blocking a single number. Spam callers often spoof numbers, so blocking one number may not help much.
You can usually still place outbound calls to a number even if that number is blocked from calling in.
If you need to reduce spam calls, consider using an IVR-style approach (example: “Press 1 to connect”). This can filter out many robocalls that never press a key.
If you see an option like Transfer All My Phones, it may not work reliably. The recommended option for moving calls between your own devices is Ring All My Devices.
Check the selected call device (Softphone vs Deskphone vs Mobile App).
If you want to call from your computer, switch to Softphone.
If you want the physical phone to dial, switch to Deskphone and confirm the desk phone is connected and registered.
Open audio settings and confirm the correct microphone and speaker are selected.
Test the speaker and ringing device in Preferences.
Try switching to a headset if the computer speakers are not working.
Confirm you are signed into the RingFree mobile app.
Use Ring All My Devices during an active call.
If you also want your personal mobile number to ring, add it under Office and Mobile phones…
Softphone uses your computer’s audio devices (headset, mic, speakers).
Deskphone uses a physical desk phone tied to your extension.
Yes. Use Ring All My Devices and then answer on the device you want.
Because Deskphone mode expects a physical desk phone to place the call. If you meant to call from your computer, switch to Softphone.
