Mobile application Callback Feature

Mobile application Callback Feature

When you’re in an area with poor Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, the Callback feature lets the Ringfree Communicator app hand your call off to your native cell network, ensuring uninterrupted voice quality. Instead of struggling through dropped or choppy VoIP calls, Callback dials your mobile number and bridges it straight into your Ringfree call session.

1. When to Use Callback

  • Weak or Unstable Signal: You’re on LTE/5G or Wi-Fi that frequently cuts in and out.
  • Choppy Audio / Dropouts: Voice packets aren’t making it through reliably.
  • Outdoor or Basement Calls: Locations where either network consistently underperforms.

2. Configuring Your Callback Number

  • Open the App: go to the “dashboard” and navigate to “callback”
  • Click “add phone” and enter your personal phone number or alternative cellphone number
  • You also have an option to forcefully use the callback feature on every outgoing call by enabling the “always use callback for outgoing calls”. When you place a call, the application will always ring the number configured for the “callback number.”

3. Initiating a Callback

  • Start a Call: Dial as usual from your contact list or dialpad.
  • Long-Press the Call Button: Instead of a tap, press and hold the green dial icon.
  • Confirm When Prompted: A dialog appears: “You are about to make a call using the callback feature. You will receive a GSM call on (number).” → Tap Yes.
    Wait for Two Rings:
    First ring: your cell phone.
Second ring: bridges into the app session.
  • Answer on Your Cell: You’re now connected, with audio routed through your native network.

4. Bridging an In-Progress Call to Your Cell

If you’ve already answered on Wi-Fi or LTE but realize the signal is failing:

  • Tap Options (⋯) during the active call.
  • Select “switch device”, and choose the number you configured for the “callback number”
  • Confirm Hand-Off: The app will call your saved cell number and merge it into the current session.
